Meet Marie-Lou Meawasige, our new Population Health Manager

The Ottawa East Ontario Health team (OEOHT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie-Lou Meawasige as Population Health Manager. In her new role, Marie-Lou will be responsible for overseeing population health equity and quality.

She is of Mauritian and European descent, and her two children are also of Ojibway descent. She is proud of her roots, which give her a unique perspective.

“My roots and this ethnic mix have a huge impact on who I am and how I choose to present myself.”

Marie-Lou attended Nipissing University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She also holds a degree in D.A.C. (drug and alcohol counseling) from Canadore College. Upon graduation, she began her career in the field of mental health and addictions, an area that has been close to her heart since childhood.
