Message from Archipel OHT Executive Committee

Dear partners,

It is with great emotion that we announce the departure of our Director, Elizabeth Tanguay, effective 4 April 2025.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, we would like to pay tribute to Elizabeth's exceptional leadership and dedication to ensuring the smooth progress of our OHT during her four years of service.

Elizabeth speaking to a group during a conference

In particular, her constant attention to including and prioritizing the voice of the client, as well as her commitment to ensuring equity between the two regions following the successful merger of the Ottawa East and Prescott-Russell teams. Under her leadership, the OHT grew from 40 to 70 partner organizations and obtained its BPSO designation. With the support of the dynamic team at the Transformation Office, Archipel worked with nearly 100 active members and community representatives to advance integration initiatives aimed at achieving the quintuple objective. Her dedication has enabled the OHT to make steady progress, putting us in a good position to support the new provincial direction, which aims to foster the attachment of unattached patients to multidisciplinary primary care teams.

The Executive Committee wishes to reassure partners regarding this transition. A plan has been put in place to take the necessary measures to maintain operations. In addition, the Transformation Office team remains

entirely at your disposal to maintain the momentum of activities and provide you with the necessary support.

The position of director of the Archipel OHT will be posted rapidly by the Hôpital Montfort, as its fund manager. A selection committee made up of members of the Executive Committee, including a community representative, has been formed to ensure that the person recruited will have the skills needed to support the mission of our wonderful OHT.

In addition to being kept informed on a regular basis, you will be invited to share the information in your networks to support our recruitment efforts. Please do not hesitate to send us your questions or comments to

info@eso-archipel.ca.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, we thank you for your support in this transition.

Message from Elizabeth Tanguay

“This was not an easy decision to make. I love Archipel, my team, its members and our partners. I firmly believe in the correctness of its integration mission for the benefit of users, workers and the system. For me, even if the future of OHTs is always evolving, there is no doubt that the collaborative approach between sectors and disciplines, as well as with users, is the right one.

I would like to thank the members of the executive committee for their unwavering trust and support in the performance of my duties, as well as Hôpital Montfort, which, as a fund manager, has also invested significantly in the ÉSO. I would also like to sincerely thank the active members who give their time despite their heavy daily workloads. And obviously, I would like to thank the members of the Transformation Office Team who juggle the complexity of multiple priorities. Finally, I would particularly like to thank the partner clients with whom we are fortunate to collaborate every day. These volunteers have been a true compass for me during my years of service, always showing me the right direction. I have learned so much by their side and I will be eternally grateful to them.”

In February, Canada celebrates Black History Month. And in early March, Black Mental Health Week is celebrated in Ottawa. Both events are opportunities to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black communities in Canada. They are also opportunities to raise awareness and equip healthcare personnel to better understand and respond to the needs of people from Black communities. In Canada and in Eastern Ontario, it is impossible to talk about mental health without addressing the systemic barriers that Black communities still face. The need for mental health services has exploded in recent years, and organizations need to offer culturally appropriate and anti-racist care and services. That’s why the Archipel Ontario Health Team (OHT) and its partners are taking steps to dismantle the foundations of systemic racism through an anti-racism training project offered in collaboration with the Research Laboratory V-TRaC.
