Diane Hupé

Patient partner

Diane Hupé had a career in healthcare in Eastern Ontario and Ottawa. She worked in intensive care and palliative care before taking on leadership roles in various sectors, including acute hospital care, long-term care, as well as home and community care. Since retiring, she has served on numerous committees and boards, including the Ottawa Council on Aging, the Champlain Community Care Access Centre, and the Champlain Local Integrated Health Care Network.

Diane had several experiences as a caregiver, notably for her mother who had cancer, then for her spouse and other family members. She therefore brings a perspective marked by empathy and lived experience of the realities faced by users. In addition, her involvement with the Council on Aging has given her a better understanding of the challenges facing the healthcare system.

With extensive experience in the healthcare field, Diane has chosen to get involved in order to put her professional expertise and personal experience to drive change. She lives in a building with many seniors and is helping to create a local mutual aid and support network.

Diane believes that the voice of patients is essential to improving the planning and delivery of care. When healthcare staff and professionals listen to and actively involve patients and their loved ones, their voices bring solutions and improvements.
