What is lived experience and why is it important ?

Lived experience refers to knowledge acquired as a result of a personal situation related to mental, physical or social health issues or problems with the healthcare system. Your experience may be lived as a patient, family member or caregiver.

Lived experience doesn’t just focus on a patient’s clinical experiences. It also encompasses their emotions, thoughts, obstacles and challenges, and the coping mechanisms of their entire healthcare journey. These experiences can provide the information needed to help improve our policies, practices, programs and healthcare system.

Participate in Archipel’s Patient, Client and Family Advisory Committee (PCFAC)

The PCFAC's mandate is to contribute to the development of Archipel’s programs, services and initiatives. The goal is to improve the care provided, as well as the experience and quality of life of our populations. The committee also plays an active role in patient, client and family engagement initiatives, and contributes to Archipel’s strategic planning.

The inclusion of patients, clients and their families allow us to benefit from their diverse expertise and lived experiences. Would you like to join this committee or find out more about their activities?
