Marie-Lou Meawasige
Manager, Population Health
Marie-Lou is responsible for developing Archipel's quality and equity strategy as well as the population health portfolio. Her role is to develop and implement standards for evaluating equity and quality, and to recommend solutions for improving equitable access to care, thus supporting the work of the Quality, Equity and Sustainability Advisory Committee. Marie-Lou also supervises the project leads for integrated care and community engagement.
Before joining our team, Marie-Lou worked at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) for eight years. She also has over 10 years of working and volunteering experience in the mental health and addictions field, working in a variety of settings (i.e., shelters, schools, health centers, etc.) and with diverse populations and mostly equity-deserving groups. She is now using her expertise and experience in building a better healthcare system for the people of our region.
“Making a difference, for and with others, is what I want to do. We all deserve to live healthy, happy lives and no one should have to struggle to get basic health care.” Marie-Lou was born in Ontario to immigrant parents and grew up in Orillia. Of Mauritian and European descent, her two children are also of Ojibway descent. She is proud of her roots, which give her a unique perspective.
Marie-Lou holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Nipissing University and a diploma from a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor Program.
